How to Change the Company Name

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. To change the company name that appears in the Office programs, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit and then click OK.
3. Locate and then click the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{GUID}

where GUID is the Product Code for the version of Office that is installed; for example, {90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}. More than one GUID may be listed under the Uninstall subkey. If you see more than one, select each GUID until you find the one that has the correct product name listed for the DisplayName value; for example, “Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003″.

If the key is not present, locate and then click the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Installer/Userdata/S-1-5-18/Products/{GUID}/InstallProperties

where GUID is the product code for the version of Office that is installed; for example, {9040820900063D11C8EF00054038389C }. More than one GUID may be listed under the Products subkey. If you see more than one, expand each GUID, and then look in the InstallProperties folder until you find the one that has the correct product name listed for the DisplayName value; for example, “Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003″.
4. In the Name column, double-click RegCompany.

Note If you do not locate RegCompany, go back to step 3 and locate and select the other registry key.
5. Change the text in the Value data box, and then click OK.
6. Locate and then click the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\UserInfo
7. On the Edit menu, click Rename.
8. Type OldUserInfo, and then press ENTER.
9. On the Registry menu, click Exit.

When you start an Office program, the company name that appears reflects the change that you made in step 5.

Note After you follow these steps, if the company name is changed in all programs except one, locate the following key, delete it, and then restart Office:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\OfficeApp\UserInfo

where OfficeApp is the Office program that still displays the incorrect company name.

I bought HP Pavilion laptop which has vista builtin. But I need office software. I use free Office for writing letters, drawing some flowcharts, spreadsheet for some calculations. http://www.openoffice.org/. :)
There are a few releases for Myanmar version too. http://my.openoffice.org/

For the other things such as Thesis writing, Paper preparation, and Presentation, I prepare in LaTex.

there are 23 translation bots inside Gtalk. You can know translation of one language to another. It is said that accuracy rate is 20%. The process is simple. You can read here too.

Here is two example bots, en2ja@bot.talk.google.com, en2ru@bot.talk.google.com. At the left bottom of Gtalk , there is ADD button. (1) Click ADD button and (2) paste `en2ru@bot.talk.google.com`(3) then click “send invite”. It is easy. Just like you invite a friend, you invite these bots. After that, it will appear in your friend list. Click `en2ru@bot.talk.google.com` , type in english within a second, it will show you translation of what you type.

I have heard about these. But I never thought that much easy. It is my old student introduced me. :) . I pass to this information to My brother. He was enjoying testing both Chinese and English. He did translation for Chinese movies for Myanmar subtitles. His rate for Chinese bot is more than 20%.

Do you know why I use ru2en? :P Just a fun . I want to reveal the truth. My old student said that I am lucky. He used me to guess the outcome of soccer match, Toto :) . I give 3 times and the first time, 6 , the last 2 times are both 8 correct. :P I am not encouraging my student in gambling. But I knew him well that he will do moderate. He has submitted his thesis and waiting for his viva. He has a lot of free times and he should have some fun, right?
